SURGERY AFTER
WEIGHT LOSS
Just like your face, your breasts reveal the effects of certain life changes. Aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuation can cause perky, firm breasts to sag and look deflated. Stephen Pap, MD offers women in the Boston area breast lift surgery to return their breasts to a more youthful, shapely contour.
Women choose breast lift surgery, also known as a mastopexy, to improve their appearance. Reasons vary, but the most common include the following:
Sometimes the term "breast lift" is confused with breast augmentation. A breast lift perks up sagging breasts, but does not add volume or increase cup size; breast augmentation increases breast size by adding volume through saline or silicone implants. Women often opt to combine the two procedures for appealing results.
During your consultation with Dr. Pap, he will discuss your primary concerns and suggest the most appropriate plan to help you improve the look of your breasts. He may suggest combining procedures such as breast augmentation, tummy tuck, or liposuction for a more comprehensive improvement, or even a total body makeover.
Dr. Pap typically performs breast lifts as an outpatient procedure in a hospital setting. He prefers to use general anesthesia so the patient sleeps throughout the procedure. He can use periareolar, circumareolar, vertical, or anchor-shaped incisions, depending on which is best suited to each patient's unique anatomy. Regardless of incision type, he makes an effort to minimize scarring for a beautiful result.
After a breast lift, you can expect to return to light activities within 7 to 10 days and resume your normal routine, including exercise, within 3 to 4 weeks.
