Congenital Malformations


Congenital malformations encompass a variety of hand conditions of babies born with them.


Typical Symptoms:

Symptoms range from slight to major conditions, with one in twenty babies born with a difference from what is considered normal. This may include, but is not limited to extra digits, undergrowths or overgrowths, webbed digits, and missing parts of the hand and arm.
Treatment:

Treatments vary depending upon the type of hand malformation. Some hand malformations may require no action and others may be treated with therapy to improve function. Surgery may be needed in some cases to remedy conditions.
Surgical Recovery

Routine activities: Routine activities: greatly depends on the degree and severity of the malformation. Often recovery is in the order of a couple of weeks.
