Ganglion Cysts

What is it?
Ganglion cysts are benign, common bumps in the hand and wrist found near joints or tendons. They communicate with joints sometimes, and fill up with fluid after prolonged use of the hand, while they shrink in size when the hand is rested.

Typical Symptoms:ganglion cysts

Ganglion cysts are generally oval or round in shape and are filled with clear liquid. They may or may not cause discomfort and do not spread.

Treatment:

If the cyst is painless, no treatment may be necessary. If the patient is experiencing pain, fluid may be removed from the cyst, which brings temporary relief.

In more severe cases, surgery may be recommended to remove the cyst, which may rarely reoccur.

Surgical Recovery

Routine activities: 3-6 weeks.
